Taman Tun Dr Ismail Community

Taman Tun Dr Ismail or more commonly referred to as TTDI is one of the main townships in Malaysia ideally located between Selangor and Kuala Lumpur, thus, providing easy access to other parts of town for its residents. In addition to that, residents from TTDI also have easy access to neighbouring townships namely Damansara Utama, Petaling Jaya, Bukit Kiara, Sri Hartamas and many more.

The township is named after one of Malaysia\’s former Deputy Prime Minister in 1970s as well as the first ambassador to United States, Tun Dr Ismail Abdul Rahman. TTDI\’s history can be traced back to 1970s when two experienced and wealthy developers established a joint venture company known as UDA-Seapark Sdn Bhd.

UDA or Urban Development Authority was the then government\’s agency to assist in urban planning and development while on the other hand, SEA Housing Corp Sdn Bhd was a reputable private development company led by the late Tan Sri Lee Yan Lian. This piece of 286 hectares old rubber estate land (TTDI) belonged to SEA Housing.

In fact, other developers\’ thought that the area was not an ideal metropolitan township as the only access road to the area, Jalan Damansara was in poor conditions. However, UDA saw the potential of this 286 acres land and therefore, after much negotiations with SEA Housing, these two developers joint venture to launch a new township named after the late Tun Dr Ismail.

The construction work began in 1974 following the establishment of Kuala Lumpur by Federal Territory. What makes TTDI different from other townships is the freehold tenure with about 6,500 housing and commercial units sprawled on 54 percent of the land area while the remaining 46 percent is specifically for public amenities.

During late 1970s, the gross development value (GDV) is estimated around RM1.35 billion. The blueprint of the TTDI\’s development project showed that it consists of various townhouses; landed properties, high-rise condominiums and also commercial district with beautifully landscaped park. Besides, the township is also en education hub with the development of schools and colleges.

Residents also have easy access to other parts of Selangor and Kuala Lumpur via Damansara-Puchong Expressway (LDP) and New Klang Valley Expressway (NKVE). Over the years, ownership of TTDI has changed hands several times. While the master plan/blueprint of TTDI has also undergone major improvements since 1974 according to residents need.

TTDI was awarded with FIABCI Award of Distinction for Residential Property in 1994 making it one of the most prestigious townships in Malaysia as well as in the world.
